Chris Thomas

I began showing in 1976, my first breed being Old English Sheepdogs. Most of my dogs were bred by the late Pat & Vic Guest of the Lamacres affix. I had one Kennel Club Junior Warrant winning OES and made two OES UK Champions, Champion Lamacres Lancelot and Champion Lamacres Lucinda. I have since then been involved in showing and breeding Old English Sheepdogs, Rottweilers, American Akitas, Shibas and Japanese Akita Inu.

Together with my wife Tina we have bred or owned twelve UK Champions and Five Overseas Champions in these breeds.  I Judge at Championship Show Level both in the UK and overseas.  I award Challenge Certificates in 4 breeds. I have had the honour of judging at Crufts on 3 separate occasions. I was a committee member of the Midland OES club for a while. I was a founder member of both the Akita Association and the Japanese Akita Inu Club of Great Britain and served as President of the latter, for some years. I am also authorised by the Kennel Club as an assessor/mentor for first time Championship Show judges.

We now only show Akita’s and together with my wife Tina, we have bred and owned some of the Top winning Akita Inu in the UK. Some of our dog’s achievements are Top Akita Inu, Top Male and Crufts Best of Breed on 4 separate occasions. Our foundation Bitch also achieved Top Akita Brood Bitch for 2 consecutive years.

As Old English Sheepdogs were my first breed they have a special place in my heart. I have many years’ experience of judging many breeds both in the UK and overseas.  It is an honour to be selected to Judge Old English Sheepdogs at your show.
